                   - A tale of our travels

Wimbledon, London

26th June 2008

Day 4 of the Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club

Having entered the public ballots for Wimbledon tickets, we were very surprised when 10 days prior to it starting, we received notification that we'd secured tickets to centre court for day 4 of the first week.

Getting excited with only a couple of days to go we were nervous about who we would see (you generally see decent players on centre court but you couldn't be sure exactly who) and also the weather (something that is always a variable in London despite the assurances of the BBC's weather predictions).

In the end we saw Venus Williams, Andy Murray and Andy Roddick on the 3 matches that were on Centre Court. Not a bad day out actually as the rain held off for the day. It did start drizzling as we were walking back to Wimbledon tube station, but nothing serious. Having enjoyed some Pimm's and lemonade as well as the obligatory strawberries and cream, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, promising that we'd be entering next year to try our luck again.
